Google Business Profile: the New Google My Business

Google My Business is now Google Business Profile.

Matt Madrigal, VP/GM Merchant Shopping at Google, says, “Moving forward, we recommend businesses manage their profiles directly on Search or Maps…and in 2022, we’ll retire the Google My Business app so more merchants can take advantage of the upgraded experience on Search and Maps.”

What does this mean for your Painting Company?

If you haven’t already been managing your Painting Business Profile via search, now is the time to start doing so. Doing this is simple. From within Google search or the Google Maps app, search for your painting company’s name. You’ll see the same options you would have previously accessed in the Google My Business dashboard. A new added benefit for the business profile manager in search is the ability to process your verification and resolve any other issues that may exist for your profile.

If you didn’t previously set up a business profile via Google My Business (GMB), you’ll complete your setup on Google Search and Maps. You’ll be able to set up all of your painting business information like your business name, business hours, business address, service areas, photos, and more.

The Benefits of a Google Business Profile for SEO

A Google Business Profile is a must-have for any painting company that wants to rank on page one for their services. By claiming and optimizing your Google Business Profile, you’ll be at an advantage against your competition to rank on Google Maps and on page one of the search engine results pages (SERP).

Your Google Business Profile includes relevant business information such as your painting business name, your business address, photos, services, business website, and more. You can even connect with potential customers via messages and utilize call tracking.

Painting Companies rely heavily on local SEO, and a Google Business Profile will help new customers find you online by keeping your painting business visible in local search results.

Now Manage Your Google Business Profile Directly From Search or the Google Maps App

As a single-location painting business, the simplest way to manage your Google Business Profile is direct via Google Search. While you can also manage your Google Business Profile via the Google Maps App, we’ve found the desktop Google search experience to be the easiest.

From the Google search bar, type “My Business,” and your knowledge panel will appear above the organic search results. You’ll have access to all the usual Google My Business tools, now conveniently on the search page under the Business Profile Manager. You can easily update your painting company profile with information such as your business description, service area, store hours, website, and more. You can also add photos and post new updates.

There are also new perks like the new call history feature. You can now respond to messages from customers directly in Google Search, and you can claim and complete the verification process for your Google Business Profile directly in Google Search and Google Maps.

If you are a painting company with multiple locations you’ll want to manage your business profiles via the Business Profile Manager dashboard.

Having a Painting Company business profile on Google is critical whether you’re a service area business, a business with multiple locations, or a business with a single location. Your Painting business listing is free, easy to maintain, and will undoubtedly help your local SEO rankings when optimized correctly. Ensure potential customers find you online with a Google Business Profile.
